![]() Two people on opposite sides of the law, yet drawn to one another inexplicably. With Smite's eidetic memory and his mission for justice, he has earned the moniker Lord Justice.Įnter Miranda Darling, daughter of itinerant theatre folk, seamstress and petty criminal under the auspices of shadowy crime boss, The Patron. In Unveiled, we recall that Smite requested one boon from his brother, Ash, after years of accepting nothing at all. The mystery of Smite Turner is finally revealed and it is a doozy! The madness of the Turner matriarch knew no bounds and it appears that her poor daughter, Hope, was not the only victim. ![]() I'm sorry the series ended, but it has been a great read. Smite is so stoic and Miranda is a joyful person despite her living conditions they make a perfect pair. I never guess her endings (not the HEA, that's a given) but they're always believable and make perfect sense. Milan always gives her plot an extra twist, varying from the usual historical formulas. The Turner brothers are interesting and the women they picked, while not always suitable to society, are perfect for each of them. The writing and the characters drew me in and I've quickly gone through the next two books. I had the first book on my reader for a while and finally got around to reading it. It doesn't take long before he and Miranda are involved. When Miranda Darling appears before him as a witness, his interest is caught. Due to his upbringing, he is one of the few judges who deal fairly with the poorer citizens. ![]()
